About GeoSastra
GeoSastra was born from a spark of inspiration in the vibrant corridors of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). Adithya Valivety, during his second year of master's studies, found himself immersed in the world of Remote Sensing and GIS. One fateful day, a group of juniors approached him for guidance, seeking help to navigate their own academic journey in this fascinating field. Adithya, ever willing to lend a hand, began assisting them. What started as a simple act of mentorship soon grew into a passion project.
In this journey, Adithya partnered with Sai Krishna Aketi, a fellow enthusiast with a shared love for GIS technology. Together, they explored the depths of geospatial science, learning and experimenting with tools like ArcScene, Arc3D, CityEngine, and Google Earth Studio.
As they approached their final master's defense, they embarked on a significant project: creating district maps for the newly announced Andhra Pradesh state. This endeavor involved meticulous research, as they studied government gazettes and carefully delineated the boundaries of the new districts and sub-districts using old data and news articles.
Their efforts were driven by a genuine passion for geospatial technology and a desire to make a meaningful contribution. Today, GeoSastra is a platform where Adithya and Sai Krishna continue to help students and clients. They address local challenges through the lens of geospatial technology and share their knowledge with a wider community of GIS enthusiasts.
